In an outdoor setting, Pathfinders gather to “cast bread into a river” to symbolise the washing away of their failures and sins.

  3. Participate positively in symbolically asking the forgiveness of God and self

Pathfinders spend one meeting working on a list of items for a survival kit, and then make their own kit and bring it to the next meeting.

Through participation in this Pursuit, the Pathfinder will:

  1. Contribute to discussions on survival
  2. Record important survival information
  3. Gather contents for a personal survival kit
  4. Evaluate usefulness of survival kit contents

Pathfinders go to an unfamiliar area at night with only their survival kits. They will need to build a fire and deal with an imaginary emergency situation.

  3. Recall procedures for being lost
  4. Work together to overcome danger

Pathfinders spend time swapping items in an attempt to increase the value of their initial gift of 50 cents. Parallels with using our talents are then explored.

  1. Apply the process of the Pursuit to an understanding of talents
  2. Use initiative in the swapping process
  3. Exercise determination to continue the Pursuit

Pathfinders learn about sugar and fats in the diet, then make up their own ‘Sweet Treats’ recipe book using healthy alternative recipes.

Through participation in this Pursuit, the Pathfinder will:
1. Learn about the role of sugar and fats in our diet
2. Identify where sugar and fat is found in our diet
3. Find ways of reducing our sugar and fat intake where necessary
